Re “Harris Needs a Closing Argument. Here’s One,” by Bret Stephens (column, Oct. 16):

Everyone should read Mr. Stephens’s column because it states exactly what the country needs right now.

If Kamala Harris incorporates this message into her final campaign speech to the country, she has a very good chance of winning. She is using some of the ideas but needs more.

This country needs her to win on every topic: democracy, strength, women’s rights, optimism, peace, hope for the government to come together, dignity to all individuals of this country and those trying to locate here, getting rid of hate speech, etc.

I have learned much from Facing History and Ourselves, an international education nonprofit that focuses on the shaping of the future by nurturing empathy, curiosity and civic responsibility in young people.

I am scared for my country and for the next generation. During my last years I would love to live in an optimistic, fair and informed country. Today you have given me hope.

Kudos to Bret Stephens for capturing what this election is all about: civility and reason.
