After eleven long days of suspensejili no.1, BJP's Devendra Fadnavis took oath as Maharashtra's new chief minister with Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde and NCP chief Ajit Pawar as his two deputies on Thursday.

The star-studded event saw the presence of several political bigwigs, filmstars besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Mumbai's Azad Maidan.

The ceremony which took place after two weeks of intense power sharing deliberations, marked the return of Fadnavis to the top post again after five years.

The scenes on stage reflected the dynamics of the past two weeks, while Fadnavis and Pawar were dressed in almost identical attire, Shinde seemed a little aloof dressed in his traditional white .

Fadnavis who surprised many by using as "Devendra Sarita Gangadharrao Fadnavis," as his name in the official invites, took oath under the same name.

What was interesting was his deputies followed suit by incorporating their mother’s names to their official names. All three have done the same for the first time in their political careers.

While Devendra Fadnavis added his mother Sarita’s name, his two deputies used the names 'Eknath Gangubai Sambhaji Shinde' and and 'Ajit Ashatai Anantrao Pawar' while taking oath.

Incorporating their mother's names by all the three faces of Mahayuti alliance, can be seen as a move to honour mothers and also uphold the government rule which makes it mandatory for children to incorporate their mothers names into their official names.

The previous Eknath Shinde led government had made using mother's name mandatory in all government documents for children born on May 1, 2014, or thereafter.

The move is also likely to resonate with Maharashtra female population who reportedly had a role to play in alliances resounding victory.
